Lung cancer is the second most common type of cancer in men and women (after those of the prostate in men and breast cancer in women). Men and women suffering from various cancers of the lung, therefore need to be careful about the symptoms and warning signs, as it is very important to look for symptoms specific to your gender.
Lung cancer in women
This type of cancer is called adenocarcinoma, and extends from the outer side of lungs.
The symptoms are more obvious than in other types of lung cancer. The tumor can become large and in many cases it can spread throughout the body before being detected.
Some of the earliest symptoms are:
. Pain behind the arm and shoulder
. Shortness of breath during exercise
Once the cancer begins to grow appear the following symptoms:
. Increased mucus secretion and discoloration
. Pain in the chest, shoulder and back
. persistent cough
. Cough that produces blood
. Cough with phlegm or mucus with blood
. Loud raspy sound when breathing
. Shortness of breath
This type of cancer is actually difficult to find. It spreads to other parts of the body, and this can be seen only when it reached the most advanced stages. The signs could be felt in various parts of the body such as bone, liver, lymph node and adrenal gland. Once it has spread exhibit the following symptoms:
. Loss of muscle mass
. Loss of appetite and unexplained weight loss
. blood clots
. Swelling of the neck or face
. Memory Loss
. Bone fractures, which are not caused by accidental injury
. Pain in the joints or bones
Lung cancer in men
Squamous cell carcinomas, occurring in men is known as non-small cell lung cancer. It grows in the central part of the lungs, close to the main air duct (bronchi), as a result of which impedes the passage of air, and this causes the symptoms, which obviously talk about lung cancer compared with the most commonly observed in women.
These are some of the symptoms:
. Multiple pulmonary infections, such as bronchitis or pneumonia
. chronic cough
Symptoms associated with lung cancer in men obstruct the airways more than the corresponding condition in women, but according to many surveys, men ignore these symptoms because of their habits of smokers.
Of great importance is to not ignore the warning signs, although the symptoms of lung cancer may seem obvious. It is also quite important to reduce the risk of lung cancer at any cost, and unfortunately for some addicted smokers, it includes a waiver of cigarettes.
