They are mushrooms that just like marihuana can be used for medical purposes too. They are known as “ shrooms”, “Magic mushrooms”, “Psilocybic” mushrooms or maybe they are not heard of yet.
Yes, they are forbidden by the U.S. Government just like marijuana , but they are a natural product and they have healing properties that can repair and grow brain cells. Their ingredient Psilocybin can help in treating depression, eliminate mental illness and improve cognition.
The University of South Florida, conducted a research on psychedelic mushrooms and their ability to heal brain cells and help in treating depression, mental illnesses and cognition.
How Psilocybin works
“The Experimental Brain Research”, published the study, stating that this mushroom compound attaches to the brain receptors and helps them grow and repair.
The study was conducted on mice. The researchers concluded that Psilocybin had a great impact on the brain cell growth and rejuvenation of damaged brain cells. It was very successful in treating PTST and depression.
Dr. Juan R. Sanchez – Ramos, was the leading researcher who first studied the effect of these mushrooms’ ingredient on mice brain cells. Namely, he trained the mice to react to an electrical shock by first hearing a specific noise. After that he gave Psilocybin to some mice. Those that were given Psilocybin, became smarter and reacted from fear of the electrical shock without hearing the sound. In a word it miraculously helped them learn fast!
“The proposition that psilocybin impacts cognition and stimulates hippocampal neurogenesis is based on extensive evidence that serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT) acting on specific 5-HT receptor sub-types (most likely the 5-HT2A receptor) is involved in the regulation of neurogenesis in hippocampus,” says Dr. Sanchez-Ramos according to NaturalNews. “The in vitro and in vivo animal data is compelling enough to explore whether psilocybin will enhance neurogenesis and result in measurable improvements in learning.”
This amazing compound is also known as a “nootropic” agent, that has a lot of other positive effects on the brain section called hippocampus. It is a very important part of the brain responsible for learning and remembering such as transforming short term memory into long term memory. The brain cells of the hippocampus become rejuvenated and much stronger from the psilocybin.
It is not a good for health and science to not stimulate and motivate research on these mushrooms indeed. There are strict lines that cannot be passed whatsoever because of their hallucinogenic nature. Just like marijuana, these mushrooms are forbidden to use without professional guidance. Do not use them on your own!
These two natural products are considered illegal substances. The U.S. Government has classified them as “no medicinal value”.
It remains for time and a lot of study to prove the contrary.
